Byron Bay

Captain Cook first discovered Byron Bay when he passed the most Easterly point of Australia and that was when Byron Bay was first settled in, inly by cedar cutters and quickly after being founded it was given its name "Byron Bay" after John Byron which was James Cook's idea. Byron Bay was first thought of as an actual town when musicans, sporting groups and other settlers first arrived and put use to the new hotels, local shops and media stores that had recently been developed, thus creating Byron Bay. There onwards many of the famous icons began construction, e.g The lighthouse. Located on the east coast of Australia, Byron Bay is the most Eastern point in Australia. These variables increased the popularity of Byron Bay. And because Byron Bay became so famous, the tourism increased and soon people from all over Australia were flocking over to Byron Bay, enjoying the beaches, shops, and friendly locals.

Byron Bay is also famous for it's locals. The typical, stereotypical Byron Bay local is a drugs smoking, alcoholic, hippie that loves to surf surfing. And so Byorn Bay got it's hippie and chilled atmosphere upon it.
